Environmental Consequences Of Green Manufacturing

Manufacturing accounts for a large portion of energy consumption, in fact, â€Å"it accounts for one-third of all the energy consumption in the United States†. With the manufacturing industry, limited resources like oil and natural gases may be consumed to generate the large amounts of energy required. From this industry, greenhouse gases and other harmful emissions may be generated during the processing of materials, and waste disposal may cause other pollution to the environment, which can lead to harmful environmental consequences in the future. Fortunately, substantial improvements have been made, and manufacturers and consumers are showing great concerns regarding the energy and the environment, even if the results can be relatively costly. Green manufacturing is a key player in providing cleaner energy resources, reducing greenhouse gases and other harmful emissions, degrading the impact of these gases, conserving natural resources and minimizing wastes. Answer: I feel I need to start from the beginning with the accident I met at my workplace few years ago. I met with severe accident wherein my hands went into spindle moulder in the office and there were minor kind of injuries of badly cut fingers along with other problems that soon followed. Furthermore, when I joined my work again I faced different anxiety and depression issues and I started taking sleeping pills and antidepressants. I had three six months spell in the vocational rehabilitation and I had to resign when the things started getting worse. It went in such a manner until 2016 when I started taking sessions from CBT at the health care centre. The CBT had made a huge difference however; the ten sessions were not enough and it was difficult for me to cope up with such issues and my mood went sinking down. Furthermore, in the early 2017, I got someone in Munster in Ireland for CBT. I told the person that CBT did not help me that much in relieving my stress and then he suggested that I should consider Mindfulness. The person asked me to Google Mindfulness and I thought it was ok to ring for such assessment. Furthermore, I rang for the assessment and went to mount but then I thought I would return home if the mindfulness did not work. I would be taking more than 350 antidepressants to kill myself and this will be helpful to make the individuals understand that I had tried everything and nothing worked and in this manner I went for the mindfulness session. The first session helped me in with counseling and psychotherapeutic setting. In my life, I never interacted with so many individuals and I was uncomfortable to interact with them. I tried to block those individuals by sitting out of the entire group and blocking others with pillar. In the second session, the counselor helped in creating mindful setting, however; I tried to do all my homework in order to prove myself that I tried my best but everything failed. During the third and fourth session, I tried to understand how mindfulness works. Part way through the sessions, I tried to understand those mindfulness sessions was the turning point and while on my way to home I thought that mindfulness was not barmy. I felt mindfulness may work for me and I will not be dead in the next six or seven weeks. I tried to read the different handouts and I felt how wrong I was in thinking about mindfulness. The things fell into place and I was receiving a lot from mindfulness, however in the later sessions of mindfulness there were different problems that occurred. I tried t o ask for help at best of times and not during the sessions. I hated myself again as I was behaving as I used to previously. I felt depressed and suicidal in nature. However, I tried to keep that feeling to myself as I felt mindfulness would work and I just avoided it whenever I could. However, during the last session of mindfulness, I tried managing myself and began sitting with other individuals. It took a lot of effort for me however; I just wanted to be the part of the specific group. I wanted myself to belong to the group for once even if it was only for one session. The course completed and when I left the course and I found new problems but I was not serious that killing me was the solution and I felt mindfulness would help me. After a week, I went on summer holidays and I ended up with migraine pain on the way back to our home. During this time, I tried to exercise and apply all the mindfulness exercises that I have learnt in the sessions. The different exercises helped me in feeling pleasant and returned home feeling ok as well. I tried following the activities that I have learnt in the session and I did not have migraine anymore. I slowly tried to cope up with the different difficult situations in my life and but there times when I could not find proper solution. There were times when I could not find myself distressed and it had affected me intensely. Furthermore, after a few days, I got migraine pain again and felt that it would be gone, however; it did not work out well. I finally tried to work through the session notes of the twelve sessions. It took more than nine months to finish the tasks and it pleased me in an effective manner. With the help of the mindfulness, I tried to act as the mindfulness volunteer in different places and this provided me confidence to overcome different situations in the life. I tried to reduce the different difficulties in my life have performed the mindfulness activities. I tried to volunteer different programs in different organizations as this helped me in overcoming different kind of issues faced by the different individuals. I tried to organize different kind of health walks in such a manner that this helped me in coping up from different situations in their life. I started organizing different trips with different individuals and this helped me in overcoming my difficulties as well. I opened my own centre wherein all the individuals were invited to my institution wherein I organized weekly meditation and this helped me in reducing the different issues such as helped in decreasing stress. I tried organizing different programs wherein this helped me in enhancing their ability to deal with different issues in their lives. There were different individuals who had problems to deal with recovery in such a manner that helped them in decreasing symptoms of depression in different individuals. After the mindfulness, sessions that I had attended previously helped me in understanding the difficulties of other individuals. There were different other issues of individuals who were positively linked with different blood pressure issues and overweight and obesity issues as well. I kept different sessions on mindfulness activities that can be made performed by the different individuals in such a manner that this will help them in overcoming such weaknesses n an effectual manner. When I took different learning experience of mindfulness during twelve sessions and I tried understanding their issues by counseling them. There were different college students who faced different kind of depressive activities and other problems related to alcohol. I tried counseling them in such a manner that has helped the students to overcome such issues by meditating and involving themselves into different activities. When I took my first session as I suffered from anxiety, I felt that the alcohol problems are prevalent in nature and this can put their lives to risk. I tried to focus more on the different strategies that can help them in overcoming such issues and help them to succeed a positive life in an effectual manner. I tried organizing sessions that is based on different techniques on meditation and practices of mindfulness, as this will help the individuals to lead successful life. I invited different guest lecturers in the institution as this helped me in understanding their difficulties and resolved them with application of different other strategies in an effective manner. When I faced difficulties in my life, I tried to focus more on the session notes as this helped me in developing different strengths within myself and solve them in an effectual manner. He knows that it is wrong and yet he waits with delightful anticipation of what is to come. In the Victorian society such feelings would not have been discussed, however Bram Stroker makes no attempt to cover up the intentions of the three vampires. Instead he chooses to place emphasis on the sexual element with vivid descriptions of the women and their seductiveness. He describes their lips as being voluptuous and their appearance very pleasing. Count Dracula is very much the master of the house, who as in Victorian society, was expected to provide for the women he has total control over them and they dare not disobey him for fear of the consequences. In this episode he provides them with a baby so that they will leave Harker alone. At the end of the episode we read that the three vampires disappeared into thin air. In my opinion Stoker was comparing this to the role of Victorian women, who in the home were expected to fade into the background. For indeed the concept of the ideal women was a much sought after creature innocent but sensual passive but alert and always obedient to men. The power of women is continually being undermined in Dracula. They are continually perceived as of weak, and even Mina one of the stronger women in the novel falls under the spell of Dracula. Mina is forced to suck blood from his bosom. This reflects the manifestation of male dominance and female servitude is evoked through the imagery. Stokers Dracula is an ambiguous figure, a source of both erotic anxiety and corrupt desire. He is the symbol of a relatively uncomplicated evil, which resided in secret wants and unconscious desire. This can be compared to the way the Victorians viewed themselves, they saw their feelings as wrong so they chose not to expose them: yet all these taboo subjects are highlighted in Bram Stokers novel. It is not known whether or not he intended to do this or if it was simply an unconscious telegraphing of his inner thoughts at the time.

They all have varying degrees of knowledge and experience in their respective roles which affects their individual skill levels. No one style of management is good or bad, a management style can be a good or poor fit depending on the situation. This is why I find the Situational Leadership approach the most effective and try to change instinctively between the four styles according to the people and type of work I am dealing with at the time. It is essential to be adaptable as there are positives and negatives to the different styles if used in the wrong situation. However I think my natural style is a mixture of Selling and Supporting . Examples of when I have used these different styles are below: Selling: My team have a number of targets that have to be met. Some of the staff are consistently below their targets for various reasons such as heavy workload, organisational skills, prioritising etc. In this situation I will talk to them one to one explaining their targets and why they have to be met outlining the benefits to the team and company. I also encourage their input, listening to their ideas of how they can improve and develop. Supporting: A very experienced member of my team told me that they were struggling with their workload. That it had become too much and they could no longer cope. I sat down with the person and listened to what work they had outstanding and how things had become too much. After talking it became clear that it was due to a lack of motivation and organisation that things had built up, resulting in a lack of confidence to get back on track. I knew this person had the knowledge and skills to complete the work so I gave praise for previous work they had done well to increase confidence. I then gave guidance and support of how to organise their remaining workload. This resulted in the member of staff feeling a lot more confident and motivated to complete the outstanding tasks. I also use Telling and Delegating depending on the situation or task at hand. For instance I would use Telling if a member of staff is unable or unwilling to complete a task. I would use Delegating if the member of staff is capable and motivated resulting in my trust to complete the task. Its a managers responsibility to be a chameleon by changing their style to suit the situation. This way you will maximize the productivity and engagement of the whole team. My own leadership behaviours and potential in the context of a particular leadership model and own organisation’s working practices and culture, using feedback from others The Johari Window is a useful tool for helping build self awareness and gain an understanding of how others perceive you. To help form a judgement of my own leadership behaviours I asked 14 members of my team to complete a Johari Window handout consisting of 56 adjectives and asked them to circle 5 words they felt best described me. I also completed my own handout to compare against my colleagues. The 5 words I had chosen to best describe myself were all picked by at least one of my colleagues and therefore placed in the Public Knowledge section. The words that were chosen the most (Public Knowledge) confident x 8, helpful x 7, (Blind Spots) friendly x 6, knowledgeable x 4, adabtable x 4, calm x 4, logical x 4, relaxed x 4. I have a good relationship with my team that has been built through good communication and being open about my thoughts/feelings. I think this has helped to gain a trust and understating which is reflected in the results of the Johari Window. I will continue to seek feedback from my team to help reduce my Blind area and increase my Open area. Also looking at my personality and leadership behaviours I completed the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) questionnaire and during the Understanding Leadership Course we looked at the results. My type indicator is below; Google Images The management style of the ESFJ is softly authoritarian and decisive. As a manager, the ESFJ expects everyone to follow the rules and procedures without question. Hierarchy is respected. They are congenial, helpful, considerate and thoughtful and wish to please. They focus on harmony and mutual support and achieving results through teamwork and a sense of mutual belonging. There are some similarities in the results of the MBTI and the results of the Johari Window. Both exercises show strong personality traits of being Helpful, caring, considerate and thoughtful. Appropriate actions to enhance own leadership behaviour in the context of the particular leadership model My preferred style of leadership is Hersey-Blanchard Situational Leadership. This model requires a leader to be capable of adapting or changing leadership behaviour and using different styles of leadership depending on Competence Confidence and commitment Ability Willingness Hersey and Blanchard further described these ‘Situations’ requiring a high or low leadership emphasis on the Task and the Relationship. This is not always easy and to be a successful leader in this model you must know your own strengths and weaknesses as well as those of the team. To grow as a person and get the best out of others, I must not only capitalize on my strengths, but also face my weaknesses and deal with them. That means taking a hard look at my personality type’s potential problem areas. I studied my Myers Briggs Type Indicator ESFJ to see if there are any common weakness’s of this personality type that I can relate to me. These are some examples; May be prone to struggle with insecurity stemming from their strong desire to be liked Strongly dislikes criticism and conflict – can be overly sensitive Tendency to dislike change May react too quickly and too emotionally in a situation better dealt with in a more pragmatic fashion To improve my self awareness I revisited my Johari Window results, in particular my Blind Spots. Gaining feedback and learning from your blind spots can help you see strengths that you may not know you posses or discover ways in which you are hard on yourself when other people are not. For example I never knew my team see me as clever, knowledgeable, logical and dignified. This knowledge has given me renewed confidence in my ability as a Manager. Using this information in conjunction with Kolbs Learning cycle (See Apendix 3) I can improve on my weaknesses and build on my leadership skills. Improving these skills will help to maximize the productivity and engagement of the whole team. In other words it begins with doing something in which the individual, team or organisation are assigned a task. Key to learning therefore is active involvement. In Kolbs model one cannot learn by simply watching or reading about it, to learn effectively the individual, team or organisation must actually do. Stage 2 Reflective Observation: The second stage in the cycle is that of reflective observation. This means taking time-out from doing and stepping back from the task and reviewing what has been done and experienced. At this stage lots of questions are asked and communication channels are opened to others members of the team. Vocabulary is very important and is needed to verbalize and discuss with others. Stage 3 Abstract Conceptualisation: Abstract Conceptualisation is the process of making sense of what has happened and involves interpreting the events and understanding the relationships between them. At this stage the learner makes comparisons between what they have done, reflect upon and what they already know. They may draw upon theory from textbooks for framing and explaining events, models they are familiar with, ideas from colleagues, previous observations, or any other knowledge that they have developed. Stage 4 Active Experimentation: The final stage of the learning cycle is when the learner considers how they are going to put what the have learnt into practice. Planning enables taking the new understanding and translates it into predictions as to what will happen next or what actions should be taken to refine or revise the way a task is to be handled. For learning to be useful most people need to place it in a context that is relevant to them. If one cannot see how the learning is useful to ones life then it is likely to be forgotten very quickly.
